Authentic Islamic Fiqh guidance on purification (Taharah) for valid Salah and daily worship.
How to Purify Impure (Najis) Things
Complete and Authentic Fiqhi Guidance
In Islam, Taharah (purity) holds fundamental importance. For the validity of prayers (Salah), Tawaf, and other acts of worship, the cleanliness of the body, clothes, and place is essential. Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) provides detailed rules for identifying impurity (Najasa) and methods to purify it. Below are all authentic ways to purify impure items according to reliable Fiqhi sources.
1️⃣ Items That Are Intrinsically Impure (Najis al-Ainiyah)
These are things that are by themselves impure, such as:
- Alcohol
- Excrement, urine
- Other filthy substances
These remain impure as long as they retain their original form. For example:
- Alcohol remains impure as long as it is alcohol.
- Once alcohol turns into vinegar, it becomes pure.
In other words, if an impure substance changes its inherent nature, its ruling also changes.

2️⃣ Items That Become Impure Due to Contact
Some things are not inherently impure, but become impure upon contact with Najasa.
Purifying with Water or Flowing Substances
- Water (even if previously used)
- Any flowing liquid that can remove impurity
📌 Examples:
- Vinegar
- Rosewater
⚠️ Using vinegar or rosewater unnecessarily is not allowed as it is considered wasteful.
